Ever since birth, Ryne McIntyre has had to deal with many losses in his brief life ranging from kidnappings, heartbreaks, deaths, and his valuable pitching arm. After dealing with bouts of depression resulting from all these losses, Ryne emerges from the darkest period of his life to help the citizens of Boston as a vigilante known as The Machine with help of his cybernetic engineer mother and her able assistant. As the vigilante, Ryne had to deal with a police force searching for him and his mother's mentor turned adversary who wants her dead.

I was recommended this book by my bff, she thought I would like it, and she was right. It helps if you know a fair bit about baseball, to understand some of what goes on in the book.I absolutely love John's imagination, not only in creating a new kind of hero, but for the fact that he created an entire new baseball league. That takes a lot of effort and he pulled it off well.
He's set the book up well for the books that will follow. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

Emergence The Machine Chronicles Volume 1 John Stagman Books Reviews
Stagman's novel was engaging with many twists and turns. Even readers who do not have a baseball background will appreciate the crafting that went into Ryne's character. I definitely found myself rooting for him and appreciated the real and human way he faced the many adversities that came his way. I'm looking forward to the follow-up!
I actually give this book 3.5 stars, but, since I could not, I rated it 4 stars. The first half of the book is about Ryne's baseball career, which is written about quite extensively. As it is mentioned in the description of the book this should not surprise you, however, I was expecting the pace to be a bit quicker getting to the rest of the story. It is a good story, one that I enjoyed.
I love this book... My dad works with John and they got me the book and I just love it.... keep up the great work
Great read, best I have read in quite some time! This book has something for everyone, superhero, murder mystery, romance, family, and baseball!
It's not the type of book I read. But it's a great story. Ryan goes through a hell of a lot. If I say anymore I give away to much. For it to be something I'm not really into I have to say I fully enjoyed this book the author did a great job in writing this book I love the way it's writen
I really enjoyed this story by John Stagman. This story had baseball, crime, romance, and some comedic parts to it. I felt like there should have been more character development but hopefully there will more of that in the second book. I will definitely recommend this story to others.
I honestly thought it was all about baseball and I love sports but baseball isn't my favorite sport, but I thought hey why not. maybe I might even learn something.
well, by the time I finished I had laughed, cried, smiled and could relate some. it wasn't all about baseball. it was actually a very good read. I would suggest that everyone should read it. just remember to have some tissues handy just in case you need them.
