16-year-old Eden Velasco is haunted - by a girl with a face-splitting smile, by one who likes to hang on to her window sills at night, and by another who chokes on her own ashes. Sometimes, Eden wonders if it's just better to bite her wrist and bleed herself to death. Eden has tried hard to fake being normal, recording episodes of MTV reality shows that she never watches and covering her walls with posters of boy bands she can't even name. And she can't see ghosts. She can't. Yet everything Eden's worked hard for starts to unravel when a dead little girl with paper eyes starts stalking her, leaving dead bodies in her wake. And before Eden knows it, the men in white have straitjacketed her back to the cold place. St. Dymphna's Institute of Mental Illnesses and Disorders is a place where it is winter all year long without the snow, where ghosts come and go and every one of them is not right. As the lines between reality and blood-stained dreams continue to blur, Eden finds herself playing Pied Piper to bitter spirits who blame her for their murders. Demanding vengeance that Eden feels she's incapable of giving, they come after her day and night until Eden's pushed to the brink of truly losing her sanity, abandoning her soul, and becoming what everyone once accused her of being a child of the Devil.

This story was very creepy and unique. A girl haunted by ghosts who's friends with just-as-abnormal and beautiful twins already starts off to an interesting story line, seeing her life with the normals versus the real life she leads behind closed doors. I just can't get over how creepy this was! All the ghosts in here had pretty elaborate backgrounds, making their presence- even if only for a moment -all the more real and a bit frightening.

Eden was a major downer but in a weird way, she was very optimistic. I don't know how to explain it. While reading this, I felt depressed almost every other chapter because of how morbid her thoughts were, and yet it was all considered normal to her, so although her normal was my 'too much', she still maintained a sane sound of mind. I think that's one of the reasons why I'm intrigued with this book, because it had me feeling the way she has her entire life.

The twins, her bffs, were cool but I didn't get as much backstory as I'd have liked. I just feel like there could've been more without overloading me. Also, the romance was not the main thing here, but when it did come up, I was a little disappointed at the gaps. A lot of times the cute moments felt random because it jumped so quickly from 'amazing friends' to 'oh he loves me' and then something else entirely different was going on, and it just- There were just a few gaps that could've been filled.

It was a bit fast paced which was fine, and her slow, methodical way of thinking was a nice contrast. Did I mention how creepy this thing was?

You must embrace your uniqueness whatever it may be and learn to ask for help because you are never alone...a must have
Different, but I also LOVE this author
I read this book and I must say it gave me chills. As with all Marian Tee's book I love it. The way the characters move along had me spellbound. Perfect book to curl up with, if you are in the mood for something a little spooky. )
I was a little hesitate to read Ms. Tee's horror book but I gave in and read it in one night. Yes, I got spooked-out but I enjoyed the story line so much that I over looked it. Every one is different and some are just more so than others. We shouldn't be afraid of our differences because once you learn to embrace it ... the world can be a better place.
I really loved this book. I was on the fence about buying this book at first, I mean what would a romance author know about writing a horror? Well she completely blow that thought out of the water within the first couple of chapters. The book is a great late night read, plus it scared me and creeped me out at the same time. What more could you ask for in a horror?

While I adore both Marian Tee's YA romances and her adult ones, this book is what made me a loyal fan. She took this story line and made it into something new and fresh. I would defiantly buy any other books she writes, they are just that good.
...but it would benefit from another pass through the hands of an editor.

The story, overall, is interesting, somewhat suspenseful, and not really like anything else I have read. The author gives you just enough information to keep you interested, without spoiling it with too much backstory at any one time. The creepy moments are just creepy enough to make you wonder what might be hiding in the shadows or under your bed when you're not looking.

My main complaints, and I have two
The first is with the editing. There are numerous misspellings and words missing completely from sentences. They weren't glaring problems, but just noticeable enough that it detracted from a smooth read. And it seemed to get a little worse the farther into the story you got.
My other complaint had to do with time transition in the story. I found myself lost a couple of times in the jump from present to past and had to backtrack to make sure I hadn't missed anything. It wasn't as seamless as it could have been, but it wasn't a deal-breaker, either.

All in all, if you're looking for a supernatural story, just chock full of ghosts and demons and murder, this is your baby. The story line is a fresh take on the genre and is handled in such a way as to keep you turning (scrolling) pages to find out what happens next.
But if you're a stickler for the perfectly edited, you might want to wait it out for the update.

Four stars for a creepy read, and I'll be checking out some of the other titles from this author.
Looking for a good scare? Want a story that makes you think twice about turning out the lights? Well, this is it! Death Loves Me Not wastes no time with a ghost haunting our heroine from the opening pages. Ms. Tee introduces us to Eden, and right away, your heart goes out to this young woman. Who among us didn't feel 'different' or left out, in our teenage years? Was there never a time when your parents didn't 'get' you? Of course, Eden faces so much more than simple teen angst.

Whether we share Eden's helplessness at her failure to save one girl, or when to our horror, hundreds die, or her wonder when she realizes Stud loves her, this story has it all. And danger lurks around every page. Interwoven we find true friendship, love, and budding romance. As I learned when reading Ms. Tee's romance books, she is a true master of tugging at the heart strings (When Saffi March lost her baby, I mean...I... sorry, got a little sidetracked there. Just read 'When Fangirls Cry, o.k.?)

As a fan of horror from the likes of Koontz, and King, this is one of the most original tales of this genre I have encountered. Nothing is truly obvious, and we are kept guessing about everything, from the true nature of Will and Stud, to the identity of the little girl in pink. While reading Death Loves Me Not, the flashlight, and the 1911, were never far from hand. Chilling!
